Viele Grüsse an meine 2 Leser in Japan. Ich hoffe alles ist gut? Von wegen: Nachfrage bestimmt das Angebot.

Somebody asked me why I publish mostly in English. Well, that is the fault of Google Analytics. The invisible hand of capitalism told me so. The ratio DE:EN reader is 1:50. And I’m not counting the rest of the world. Many greetings to my 2 readers in Japan. I hope everything is all right? Bottom line: demand asks for supply.

Photo: Vienna Prater

Blogging will be light (not happening?) this week. We’ve Easter holidays and I’m on homeland holidays in Vienna with my son. On our To Do list:

(1) Eat a Wiener Schnitzel possibly every day. And do not eat it in the same Wirtshaus. ✓ — (2) Solve the Super Mario Bros WII mystery. Man, this task will consume most of our time. ✓ — (3) Ride every roller coaster in Vienna Prater. Afterwards I will be financially ruined. ✓ — (4) Avoid all cultural things Vienna is famous for and why all these Japanese are visiting ✓

Today I reflected a little bit about my blog and about my commenting on economist’s blogs. Basically I came to the conclusion it’s a waste of time. Now in regard to my blog I will continue to waste my time because it’s fun to procrastinate. Thanks to being permanently linked on Bill Mitchell’s blog Google Analytic tells me to have a global readership. Maybe I will refocus the posts and stop writing about other economist’s GIGO blog posts? I’m thinking to write more about (ancient?) papers and books I’m reading.

But in regard to commenting on economist’s blogs I’m seriously considering to stop it. Why? Basically NO economist’s blog is about discourse. These guys all stick to their chosen gun (ideology). All these blogs (DeLong, Thoma, Krugman, Cowen, Roberts, …) are big propaganda megaphones. They’re the Internet outfit equivalent to  “The Manchurian Candidate” movie. We know the truth and if you don’t like it we will either delete you or ignore you. But if you choose to undergo our brainwashing you’re most welcome! What do you readers think?

Since Monday I’m on a business trip for three weeks. Thus I’ve not a lot time to procrastinate with my blog and blogging will be very light. But I’ve added a GIGO tag to my browser/reader to mark stuff for future posts.

Have you ever wondered how a very successful German exporter looks like. The photo above is the company Württembergische Allplastik GmbH. Worldwide market leader — drum-roll — for cable ties. Now if you think the building looks a little bit dull I missed the photo opportunity while the owner parks one of his five cars in front of the entrance. Among them a very nice Lamborghini.
